Since Grace is not only an artist but herself, a peatland dweller in Agusan del Sur, northeastern Mindanao, southern Philippines, as well as a scholar and NGO director who works with indigenous knowledge keepers, her goal is to help bridge modernist and indigenous approaches to conservation in a decolonial framework.

Artistically, Grace aims to collaborate with kindred artists on audiovisual pieces that weave together images and sounds of the peatlands in Agusan and in Greifswald with her text and voice.

Grace Nono is currently visiting and researching peatlands overseen by the Succow Foundation and its scientists under the umbrella of the Greifswald Mire Center.
